The Indian stock market closed with a fall on Wednesday, the third trading day of the week. Sensex closed 150 points or 0.28% lower at 53,026.97 and Nifty fell 51 points or 0.32% at 15,799.10 today. The biggest fall was in the shares of Metal, FMCG and Private Bank. Today's top losers include HUL, Axis Bank, Wipro, HCL Tech, Titan, Kotak Bank and Bajaj Finance.
Midcap and smallcap also declined
- BSE Midcap ended 155.20 points or 0.70% down at 21,875.25.
- The BSE Smallcap closed at 24,921.40, down 43.84 points or -0.18%.
Biggest fall in banking sector
- All sectoral indices of NSE saw a decline today. The bank saw a decline of 1.11%, PSU Bank by 0.92% and Private Bank by 1.12%. While FMCG and IT declined by up to 1%. Auto, financial services, pharma and realty were flat.
