With Thor: Love & Thunder just inches away from release, fans are excited to expect a blockbuster from the looks of the trailer and other related clips. Of the many questions raised by the comic version of the story, the most commonly asked is director Taika Waititi's decision to humanize the look of Christian Bale's character Gore the God Butcher, who is set to become the villain of the superhero sequel.

While both versions portray the original gray bipedal alien, Bell's villain is missing the iconic tendrils that stick out of his head which is a turning point in comic book gore. Bell's Gore also eschews the dark black cloak and sports a nose that is very different from the comic version of a flat-faced villain. Waititi explains that the reason Gore's appearance is changed in the film is because he is very similar to Voldemort from the Harry Potter series.

In an interview with IGN, via ComicBook, Waititi shared, "His face in the comics, unfortunately, looks like Voldemort." Then he went on to explain, "So I was like 'People are just going to make that connection automatically.' So we decided to keep elements of that design and tone, and the fact that he had a sword. Really, it was his story that was the most important thing to us."

Meanwhile, in a conversation with the outlet, Bell elaborated that the look would have been impossible with her take on the role.
