David Harbour went to Ryan Reynolds after Hellboy flopped

In a new interview with GQ via ET Canada, Stranger Things star David Harbor talks about how he approached Ryan Reynolds after his film Hellboy flopped at the box office. Reynolds also suffered a notable flop in his career when the highly anticipated superhero film Green Lantern did not perform as expected and received poor reviews from most critics.

While seated, Harbor shared, "It was a very rough experience because I wanted so much out of it. I really like [Mike Mignola, 'Hellboy' creator], I love that character." He continued, "And then immediately when it started, even when it was announced, I realized that people didn't want that character to be rediscovered. What we were going to do was, I was very naive and optimistic about that." Harbor's Hellboy was made on a budget of US$50 million and grossed only US$55 million worldwide. When Harbor was faced with such a situation, he turned to Ryan Reynolds.

The Black Widow actor recalled, "I know him a little bit. I called himr and I was like, oh man, I just need to know something. You know 'Green Lantern'? Huge flop for you. What the fuck 'Cause I think I'm going to hit it now." He thought, "Will I be okay? Will I survive this?" Although Harbor revealed that Reynolds was "sweet" about it, he refrained from giving any further details about what exactly the Deadpool actor told him as advice.

However, now in 2022, both the actors have come out of the slump and are performing well in their respective careers.
