Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is marrying 32-year-old Dr Gurpreet Kaur in a private ceremony at his home in Chandigarh. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Raghav Chadha are among the guests at this cheap wedding.
Raghav Chadha has shared pictures of the Chief Minister dressed as the groom and performing the wedding rituals.
Bhagwant Mann, 48, is married to a doctor, Gurpreet Kaur, whom he has known for a few years because of family ties. Gurpreet Kaur, 32, reportedly helped her during her Punjab election campaign as well
Raghav Chadha told reporters, "It was their mother's dream to remarry and settle down. I congratulate her. God bless the couple."
The former stand-up comic got divorced six years ago and has two children from his previous marriage. His children live in America with their mother. They had come for the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Mann on March 16.
According to ANI, the wedding menu includes Indian and Italian dishes, including Karahi Paneer, Tandoori Kulche, Dal Makhani, Navratan Biryani, Seasonal Vegetables, Apricot Stuffed Kofta, Lasagna Siciliano and Burani Raita.
Sources say that apart from Arvind Kejriwal, his family and Raghav Chadha, no one has been invited outside the family.
Dulhan Gurpreet Kaur completed her MBBS four years ago from a private university in Haryana. Her neighbors in Pehowa said that they came to know through the media that she was marrying the chief minister.
A neighbor was quoted by ANI as saying, "We know the bride as Gopi. It was in the morning that we came to know that she is getting married to the Chief Minister of Punjab."
