AzadiSat, designed in a series of events to mark the 75th
anniversary of Independence, is set to reach its orbit from ISRO's SSLV in
August 2022.
The satellite was built by 750 girl students from 75 schools
across the country. AzadiSat is set to be launched on the maiden flight by
ISRO's Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) from the Sriharikota Space Center
at 9.15 am on August 7.
75 Photo Experiments In Satellite, Selfie Camera
The eight-kg satellite has 75 Femto experiments, selfie
cameras that will click pictures of their solar panels and long-range
communication transponders. The project, a six-month mission of ISRO, is part
of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

Women Will Be Promoted In The Field Of Space And Science
Rifat Sharooq, Chief Technology Officer, Space Kids India
said that this initiative has been taken to increase the interest of girl
students in space science and STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering
and Mathematics) etc. So that girls and women are encouraged to come forward in
the field of space science. He said that this is the first space mission of its
kind with the concept of all women as the theme of this year's United Nations
is 'Women in Space'.
Satellite Will Be Sent Through PSLV
ISRO i.e. Indian Space Research Organization has developed
SSLV to put into low earth orbit weighing less than 500 kg, which are in high
demand for applications like earth observation and providing internet
connectivity in remote areas. The primary payload of the SSLV's maiden
demonstration flight is the Earth observation satellite Microsat 2A. According
to ISRO, an SSLV rocket can be manufactured within a week to meet the demands
of the growing space sector.
