World University of Design PhD Admission Guideline

PHD Admission to the program will be done through written test and interview. A design background is not required and applicants from other disciplines are welcome.

WUD Full-time and Part-time Ph.D. Inviting applications for admission to programs in inter-disciplinary and/or focused research areas as well as under broad disciplines of art, architecture, design and management including new product development, retail, consumer behavior, design thinking, knowledge transfer issues is included. , topics related to co-production are also included. , Design Education, Design Innovation, New Technology Management/Transfer, Service Design, Industrial Design and Sustainable Design etc.

Indian Students:

• Master's degree in a relevant subject or equivalent with 55% aggregate marks, subject to passing written test and interview;
• Other conditions prescribed in the guidelines for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes.
• 5% relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently abled candidates

International Students:

• Master's degree or equivalent in relevant subject from a reputed university.
• At least 6.5 marks in IELTS or equivalent qualifying examination for the English language.
• Proven writing skills.

World University of Design PhD Admission Criteria

• An applicant will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of his/her marks in the entrance test conducted by the university.
• PHD. Final selection for admission to the post will be based on performance in Entrance Test (40% weightage) and Presentation/ Interview (60% weightage). To be eligible to appear for the interview the candidate has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the entrance test.

Interested candidates may send an application along with necessary documents to the Chairperson of the PhD Program at [email protected]. Required documents include –

• Filled & scanned Application form (downloaded from www.wud.ac.in) with scanned copies of documents in support of eligibility.
• A typed 500 word detailed statement of the proposed research project.
• Copy of Curriculum vitae
• A portfolio of creative works, if relevant
• Scores from any PhD entrance exam recognized by UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF)/ ICAR (JRF/ SRF) examination/ GATE/ GPAT score card/ ICAR Teacher Fellowship or any other University’s PhD or equivalent entrance test, if available.

World University of Design Important Thinks for PhD

• Admission in a particular subject will be available with the advisor of the University subject to the availability of seats or under the guidance of adjunct faculty after the approval of the University.
• Applicants who have passed UGC (NET/JRF)/CSIR (NET/JRF)/ICAR (JRF/SRF) examination/GATE/GPAT score card/ICAR Teacher Fellowship are exempted from Ph.D. entrance examinations. (GATE/GPAT score should be valid at the time of admission.)
• PHD Final selection for admission to the post on the basis of performance in Entrance Test (40% weightage) and Presentation/Interview (60% weightage) subject to securing minimum marks in Interview. However, if one is exempted from the entrance test in lieu of the above mentioned tests, 100% weightage will be given to interview only.
