This week's two new releases, namely Rocketry: Nambi Prabhav starring R Madhavan with a significant cameo by Shah Rukh Khan and Rashtra Kavich Om, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjana Sanghi opened to low box office numbers. While Rocketry: Nambi Effect netted Rs 75 lakh in Hindi on the first day, Rashtra Kavich Om netted around Rs 1.25 crore on the first day. On the second day Rashtra Kavich Om had shown a drop in numbers while Rocketry had grown by a healthy 65 per cent.
Rocketry surpassed Rashtra Kavich Om on the second day as it managed to garner around Rs 1.25 crore on the second day despite having a very conservative release, and that too only in metros. Rashtrakavach Om dropped slightly below 5 per cent as it managed to link the rupee. Its total amount is Rs 1.20 crore. The film had a wide release, but due to sluggish reception, the screens have been replaced by the successfully running Jugjug Jio, leading for the second consecutive week at the domestic box office.
Both the films should grow on Sunday but it will be Monday which will decide where both the films are headed as far as Lifetime is concerned. If Rocketry manages to register the same number on Monday as Friday, it is on to a healthy box office run at the bottom. With a solid gain on Saturday, the animated Hollywood film Minions: The Rise of Gru is also doing well. Sunday's lead is also strong. In its home market, it is estimated to have grossed over $125 million in its extended first weekend.
