Playback singer Sona Mohapatra, who has sung hits like 'Bedardi Raja', 'Ambarsariya' and 'Rangbati', has addressed a lengthy tweet to Parag Agarwal, the CEO of the microblogging site, calling for not inviting women as headliners. The practice has been condemned. Cultural program at his alma mater IIT Bombay.
In her tweet, Sona wrote, "Dear @paraga, ur alma-mater hasn't hosted women as headliners in its cultural festival for decades. Alumni of IITB, even for writing this letter. That the CEO also reprimanded me on Facebook."
Sona urged Aggarwal to watch her film Shut Up Sona, to get a
glimpse of what it takes to get women actors to get equal respect,
representation and remuneration.
