Born on 21 October 1992, in the
small village of Pavti, Samalkha (Panipat), Haryana, Sonika Singh came out of
the typical average middle-class Jat family background. Her father, Ved
Prakash, had more traditional ambitions that he wanted her to follow—a
doctorate degree or a high-security central government service position. But
little Sonika had different plans.
From high school skits to ballet
recitals, she loved to be on stage. It wasnít so much about fame then—it was
more about emotion, expressing yourself, and liberation. That affection just
grew with age.
She also did schooling at Panipat
and thereafter finished a bachelor of commerce degree at the Kurukshetra
University. But despite the fact that she held a degree, the allure of the
performing arts continued to be one that could not be resisted by her.
